A: ກ່ອນຈະໄປ, ລູກຕ້ອງເກືອໄກ່, ໝາ ແລະ ມ້າກ່ອນ. A: Before we go, feed the chickens, dogs, and horses.
A: ເອີ ຢ່າລືມເກືອແບ້ ແລະ ແກະ ນຳ. ສ່ວນໂຕໝູ ແລະງົວ ແມ່ເກືອແລ້ວ. A: Don’t forget to feed the goats and sheep. I (“mom” 3rd person singular) fed the pigs and cows already.

B: ໄປ໋ ໄປຕໍ່. B: Let’s keep walking.
A: ເບິ່ງຫັ່ນແມ້ລູກ ກົບກັບເປັດ ຢູ່ໃນໜອງ A: Look son. I see frogs and ducks in the pond.
B: ໂອ. ເຫັນບໍ ງູໂຕນັ້ນກຳລັງກິນໜູ. B: Oh gosh. That snake is eating a mouse.
B: ຄອກໃຫຍ່ຈະມີຈຳພວກສັດທີ່ແລ່ນໄວ ນຳກັນເຊັ່ນ: ກະຕ່າຍ ກັບ ກະຮອກ B: They put the fast animals, the rabbits, and squirrels in large cages.
B: ແຂ້ຢູ່ໃສ, ພວກເຮົາຍັງບໍ່ເຫັນແຂ້ເທື່ອ. B: We haven’t seen alligators yet.
A: ໂອ້ຍຕາຍແລ້ວ. ແມ່ລືມເກືອແມວ ແລະ ນົກ ຢູ່ເຮືອນ! A: Oh dear (die), I forgot to feed the cat and bird at home.

  1. This is great! Khobjai! One thing that might be helpful for us learners is to have the option of a slower playback speed! I’m able to pick some words out, but my brain can’t keep up with the speed of naturally spoken Lao yet!

  3. So, did anybody else notice that ໝູ in the vocabulary list says it means “friend”, but it actually spells “pig”? Funny that a “friend” would be a zoo animal. The word is missing one accent mark for it to mean “friend”, I believe.

  4. would be nice to have better explanations of the idioms, especially when the translation is not word for word.
